Pressure Vessel Design

Introduction:
Designing a Pressure Vessel is one of the most demanding skills in the field of process industry like refineries, petrochemical plants as well as power plants etc. This course covers all aspects of design and fabrication of pressure vessels. During this course main focus will be the ASME Codes especially Sec VIII-1 (Rules for Construction of Pressure Vessels) and Sec II (Materials) along with the use of computer programmes. This course will also provide a forum for discussion to the participants regarding job related technical issues.

  • Application of pressure vessel codes: ASME sec VIII – Div 1 & sec II
  • Understanding process data sheets (PDS)
  • Pressure vessel design under internal pressure
  • Pressure vessel design under external pressure
  • Types & design of welded joints
  • Design of nozzles, openings, reinforcements & flanges
  • Vessel supports: types & applications
  • Mechanical data sheet/engineering drawing preparation
  • Participant Profile:
    Engineering graduates, DAE and engineering students (mechanical, materials, chemical and industrial manufacturing engineering) can apply for this course. This course is useful for engineers involved in the design, fabrication, inspection and purchase of pressure vessels or process equipment.
    Instructor Profile:
    A team of experienced and highly qualified professionals in area of design and analysis especially pressure vessel design is conducting this course.
    Methodology:
    This course is delivered through lectures, multimedia presentations, videos and hands-on practice on modern CAE specific computers.
    Learning Outcome:
    Participants will be able to understand and implement ASME Codes to perform design calculations and generate specification of pressure vessels along with the capability of using computer-based programmes to design pressure vessels.
