Current Projects
The following projects are in operation or currently under construction:
- Tools, Dies & Moulds Centres: To upgrade the tooling industry by providing access to contemporary machines as Common Facility Centres and enhancing Human Resources by operating as 'teaching factories'. The Karachi Centre (KTDMC) became operational in 2007 while the Gujranwala Centre (GTDMC) will be operational late in 2008
- SDCs (Skill Development Centres): Located in the quake-hit areas of Batagram (2 centres), Khaki (2 centres), Muzaffarabad (2 centres and Bagh (2 centres). Batagram and Khaki are operational and helping replace valuable skills lost due to the devastating earthquake while Bagh and Muzaffarabad are under construction
- NIDA (Advanced CAD/CAM Centres): These five centres in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Sialkot and Quetta are in operation and producing 'designers' rather than 'software operators'. Leading experts conduct design courses covering a broad range of disciplines from engineering to fashion or jewellery design. TUSDEC is planning an expansion in three other cities as well as setting up franchises in the smaller cities and towns
- Technical Upgradation of Garments Industry: Major garment exporters are benefiting by hiring Foreign Experts through TUSDEC to help boost exports through enhanced quality and productivity while reducing rework losses
- CR&DI (Cement Research and Development Institute): Is successfully carrying out testing of cement sample according to local and international standards, research on cement and allied materials, product diversification, adoption of modern technology, standardisation of various cement specifications, and creation of technical linkages between cement producers and domestic users
- Ceramics Development and Training Institute (CD&TI): This 'under-construction' centre will upgrade the Gujranwala Sanitaryware Cluster by providing access to contemporary production/manufacturing machines as a Common Facility and enhance Human Resources by operating as a 'teaching factory'
