Pressure Vessel Design

Introduction: This course covers all aspects of design and fabrication of pressure vessels. The emphasis of this course is on ASME Code Section VIII, Division 1. The basis of various rules will be discussed for a better understanding of the codes. Based on the rules for pressure vessel design and construction, this course is a comprehensive introduction to the requirements of Section VIII, Division 1. The more commonly used subsections and paragraphs will be covered, and a discussion of individual problems or situations will be included.

  • Participant Profile: Engineers involved in the purchase, design, fabrication, or inspection of pressure vessels. The course will be very useful for trainees or professionals of process industry. The university students of mechanical engineering department who have interest in designing field are also encouraged to participate in this course.

    Instructor Profile: Lead Vessel Engineer having years of experience in design, analysis and fabrication of pressure Vessels. He is presently performing consulting services to the pressure vessel industry.

    Methodology:
    The course is taught mainly through lectures, demonstrations and hand on practice on computers & papers. Example Design Problems will be presented and discussed throughout the course. Manual calculations, Computer aided design and analysis will also be done.

    Learning Outcome:
    Perform calculations for pressure vessels, Give economical solutions of designing, Apply Section VIII, Division 1 Code rules, Work on software and troubleshoot the problems faced during designing.
